Director of Research and Development

Victoria Lewis DVM, RPh, is the director of research and development at AlcheraBio at the company’s Metuchen, NJ headquarters.

Dr. Lewis has worked in research and development in human and animal health at large pharmaceutical firms as well as emerging companies. She has experience in developing traditional pharmaceuticals, biotechnology-driven products, and medical devices.

Her career began in the human health organization at Novartis (Sandoz Inc.). She then worked at the US divisions of Serono Laboratories and Parexel International Corporation. After earning her veterinary degree in 2000, Dr. Lewis joined Schering-Plough Animal Health (now Merck Animal Health), where she held management positions as the company evolved through its merger with Intervet and acquisition by Merck & Co., Inc.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Lewis has successfully led development programs for a number of novel products in multiple therapeutic areas. She has designed pre-development studies and directed pivotal licensing studies. In addition to working on development projects, Dr. Lewis has worked with approved products to expand label claims and conduct post-marketing studies. She has been involved in the preparation of numerous regulatory submissions and has consulted with FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine concerning INADs and NADAs.

Her experience in all phases of clinical trials, regulatory affairs, and strategic planning is critical to AlcheraBio as the company continues its growth. Dr. Lewis earned her B.S. in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and her doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM) from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.
